We were born self-reliant, with can-do woven into our DNA and into the bootstraps we made to pull ourselves up, when the rest of the world thought it was impossible to bring electricity to rural Mississippi in the days following the Depression.  Instead of giving up, the people across Mississippi came together to form their own power cooperatives, and in doing so they brought light for enlightenment, they brought heat for blazing trails, they brought the spark to fire an industrial revolution that would transform an agrarian state into a global manufacturing powerhouse.
